Today I saw her. Her!

I finally fell in love, my friend! Can you imagine that! She was there standing on the Blue Train’s steps…..

The labels of the Blue Train series reveal a piece of the love stories that must have taken place at a time when kings and aristocrats of Romania were embarking Le Train Blue “the most beautiful train in the world” for their journeys on the Simplon-Orient- Express line from Bucharest to London, Paris or maybe even Istanbul and Athene.

The Blue Train has been the train of the European aristocracy since the early twentieth century. In Romania, the “Blue Train” has lived a glorious life: built for Carol I, throughout the century the train has always transported the kings and aristocrats of Romania to important tasks and lived through a turbulent history. Enjoying Blue Train’s range of red, white and rosé wines, you’ll manage to capture the richness of that life, where principles, values and intrigue create baroque palace stories.

A classic Chardonnay, as intended and realized: lightly pressed grapes, long fermentation, aging on fine yeasts, all to obtain a balanced, complex and full-bodied whole. Complex aromas are dominated by fruit and complemented by secondary notes of butter, freshly baked hazelnuts and anise flowers. The palate is extremely rich, almost heavy, with a firm structure of fruit and butter, finished with a broad and long-lasting finish.

Tasting Description – Klazien Vermeer, Dutch Wine Academy level 4 (vinoloog), Wine instructor
Pale yellow color, aromatic nose of pear, ripe pineapple, peach, passion fruit and hazelnut. Mineral, clean and elegant. On the palate a butteriness and light acidity. The wine is balanced, a rich wine with a long finish.

Serving suggestion – – Klazien Vermeer, Dutch Wine Academy level 4 (vinoloog), Wine instructor
Oily, creamy and rich dishes. For example, quiche, pumpkin risotto, recipes with poultry, pork, lobster and lots of cheeses. Recommended temperature: 11ºC – 13ºC.

Winemaking
After crushing the grapes, first peeling takes place at low temperatures followed by light pressing and slow fermentation on stainless steel, aging on the lee. Then the wine matured for 6-8 months of French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.

Winery

Bordeaux, Burgundy, Piedmont and “Domeniul Coroanei” Segarcea share the 44º parallel, the unparalleled wine parallel.

The vineyard of “Domeniul Coroanei” covers 277 hectares. Its location in an amphitheater open to the south ensures a record number of hours of sunshine per vegetation cycle (from the first buds in spring to hibernation). The soil consists of a layer of chernozem, under which there is a layer of limestone, then a former seabed, this structure gives the wine the acidity that perfectly complements the character of well-ripened wine fruit.

The 277 hectares of vineyards have been completely replanted, with the exception of some old stumps more than a century old, which allowed a unique variety, “Tămâioasa Roză”, to be saved.

The estate has 35.3 hectares of Chardonnay, planted at a density of 5,500 plants per hectare. The pruning method is simple Guyot. Plots with an average production of 8 tons/ha are chosen for this range.

“In all work in the vineyard, we try to stay as close as possible to traditional methods and use the most appropriate solutions, so that we coexist with nature and do not exploit it. From grazing (to combat excess water after rainfall) to drainage, from a minimum of synthetic substances to more than 30,000 rose nests planted at each end of the row to give us timely warning of impending infections such as downy mildew, powdery mildew or other vine infections, we try to create a harmonious whole and the biodiversity (both flora and fauna) reborn around the vineyard is proof that we have chosen the best path.”
